    Chiari I malformation redefined: The Chiari I malformation (CMI) is defined as tonsillar herniation of at least 3 to 5 mm below the foramen magnum

    Some people with Chiari I malformation also have a syrinx or syringomyelia. This is a long cavity containing CFS within the spinal cord. This condition is not always associated with Chiari I malformation and may also be associated with spinal cord trauma or tumors. There is some evidence that the normal flow of CSF is blocked because the cerebellar tonsils have descended into the posterior fossa. This blockage causes the CFS to flow abnormally, creating an abnormal.

    Dump Truck v. Automobile – Our client’s car was rear ended by a dump truck, causing the injured party to have a spinal cord injury. Client was able to drive his car from accident scene and treated with a chiropractor for a few months. We fought to get an MRI performed and it showed that the client had developed a traumatic syringomyelia or syrinx in his spine.  Fully disabling him. Suit was filed against the operator and the company, which owned the dump truck.  After mediation, the bodily injury claim was settled for 1,500,000.

    Prince George's County, MD.     In this minor automobile collision, our client was diagnosed with syringomyelia which is a congenital condition which can be aggravated by a traumatic event. The insurance company took issue with our client's complaints and allegations and made a top offer of $17,000 to settle her claim. The Prince George's County jury found otherwise and awarded her $262,000.
